About

The Kaneland Silver Knights is program that focuses on developing skills in the off-season and provides area girls the opportunity to experience competitive travel softball at an affordable price.

The Silver Knights program is an extension of the KYSLL program. The program was created to offer girls who wish to continue their development in the off-season and are interested the opportunity to compete in a more competitive environment against other teams and players outside of Little League. The program runs throughout the off-season and allows the girls to develop their skills and as a result they are more prepared and competitive for the Spring recreational season that leads into the All Star tournament.

Additionally the program recognizes that many kids participate in multiple sports and activities, our goal is to be flexible and understanding of this. If you have any questions about the program please contact us at [email protected].

FAQ

When does the program run and what type of time commitment is involved in participating?

The program runs August through June of the following year.

  • Mid-August through October : 1 to 2 practices a week, 2 to 4 friendly games scheduled, possibility of a tournament.
  • November through December : No practices or games, perhaps an optional clinic scheduled.
  • January through March
    • Weekly practice on Sunday afternoon or evening most likely sometime between 4 and 8 PM.
    • Potential for optional hitting/pitcher/catcher practice scheduled during week.
  • April through June: Play in 3 to 4 tournaments and/or round robins, minimal practice time due to recreational season.

My daughter is in other activities, is that acceptable?

Yes, the program was designed with that in mind. Practices are limited to Sunday afternoon/evening in order to not conflict with most other activities. There will also be an additional weekday practice but those would be optional, however players are encouraged to take advantage if they can.

What are the age eligibility rules?

The players age for program eligibility is what age they will be on January 1st of the following year (2020). For example if a player's birth date is 1/1/2005, they are considered to be 14 for the sake of eligibility and can play in a 14U program.

You can use this age calculator to help determine eligibility.

What is the cost of the program?

The final cost will be determined based on the number of players accepted to the team along with the number of tournaments and games played, but expect the cost to be somewhere between $400 to $500 dollars a player.

What does the cost cover?

The cost covers insurance, tournament fees, equipment, uniforms, friendly game costs and facility fees for practices.

Does the player also participate in the KYSLL recreational program?

All players are expected to participate in the Spring Season, although it is not required, there will be minimal practices held during the Spring recreational season (April through June) and participating will allow them to play in more games and grow their skills. Participation in Fall Ball is optional but is a great opportunity to get additional games in.

How far away does the team travel for tournaments?

All past tournaments have been within a one or two hours driving time from within Kane County and most are local (withing an hour).
