Coach Conduct and Expectations

Coach Conduct and Expectations policy serves as the foundational guide for all volunteers within our program. Its primary purpose is to ensure that the youth experience remains at the forefront of every decision made on the field.

The document is structured into five key pillars:

Sportsmanship and Conduct: Establishing a high bar for professional behavior and positive role modeling.
Professionalism and Responsibility: Outlining the standards for organization, rule knowledge, and parent communication.
Players and Development: Focusing on humble, thorough instruction and fostering a supportive team culture.
Playing Time: Defining our commitment to equitable participation and developmental rotation.
Safety: Setting non-negotiable standards for player supervision and injury management.

By adhering to these expectations, our coaches act as ambassadors for the league’s values, prioritizing player growth and safety over the scoreboard.

Cancellation Policy

All refund or cancellation requests should be directed to the KYSLL Treasurer and are subject to Board approval. Families requesting refunds before the close of registration will ordinarily receive their full payment back, less any applicable processing or transaction charges. Families requesting refunds after the close of registration will be subject to processing charges plus a cancellation fee according to the following schedule:
  • Registration closed but Team selection or draft not completed: $10.00 fee
  • Team selection or draft completed but Uniforms not ordered: $25.00 fee
  • Uniforms ordered but season has not started: Cost of uniform.

NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN AFTER THE START OF THE SEASON. Exceptions may be made for players who cannot complete a season due to a documented medical issue or injury. Such requests will be evaluated by the Board in view of all pertinent circumstances.
In rare cases, a team may not have enough players at the close of registration. If such a situation arises, affected families will be given a choice between having their child(ren) evaluated to play at the next age level and receiving a refund. If a child is determined to be not qualified to play at the next age level, a refund will be given. Evaluations are conducted by KYSLL coaches according to league criteria and are final.

Financial Assistance

KYSLL is a community organization committed to keeping the  costs associated with its programs reasonable for participants and their families. However we also recognize that some families may not be able to afford the costs but still wish to participate.

Little League has partnered with T-Mobile to offer financial assistance to families. The T-Mobile Little League® Call Up Grant is dedicated to helping families in need by covering registration fees associated with their local Little League program. T-Mobile and Little League share the belief that every child should have the chance to experience Little League, regardless of their financial or personal situation.

To apply for assistance please visit the T-Mobile Little League page.

Background Checks

All local Little Leagues are required to conduct background checks on managers, coaches, board of directors members and any other persons, volunteers or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams. Individuals are also required to complete and submit a Little League Volunteer Application to their local league.

Little League utilizes JDP for all background checks. If you are a volunteer you will receive and e-mail from the league with a link to fill out a background request form online.

More information about the background checks can be found on the Little League website.
