Details

KYSLL will be conducting evaluations for all Spring Minor A, Majors and Juniors players on first Sunday in March at Blackberry Creek Elementary School in Elburn. Evaluations will start at Noon and run through the afternoon, players will only need to attend the session for the division they are registered for.

Check In

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your schedule session start time so your player can check-in. This is important as the actual evaluation will start at the given time slot and players need to be ready to go.

What To Bring

Each player should bring their glove as well as their helmet and bat if  they have one. If your player does not have a helmet or bat KYSLL will provide them for the evaluations.

What To Expect

Players will be divided into groups and rotate through throwing, fielding and hitting stations performing different drills including ground balls, fly balls and hitting, additionally if they have pitched in previous seasons and plan on pitching they will be evaluated for pitching. Expect the evaluation to last an hour and a half

NOTE:  only players and volunteers will be allowed inside the gym during the evaluations due to safety and space. Most importantly we want all the girls to do their best and have fun!

Schedule

The evaluation schedule will be emailed the week prior to evaluations.

If you cannot make your assigned session please send us an e-mail at [email protected]

Why Evaluations?

As KYSLL continues to grow their program one of our goals is to ensure everyone participating in the program has a great experience. Part of this effort includes ensuring that when teams are formed they are formed with the intentions of creating balance within our league.

Evaluations allow the following:

1. Provide coaches information about players skill sets to aid them in planning their season so they understand what skills each player excels at or may need improvement in.

2.  Provides an assessment of each player so that during team selection and formation process KYSLL can ensure that teams are constructed to ensure a competitive balance within our league.

In addition the evaluation experience allows players to meet others they may potentially be playing with during the season, and for those that may continue playing softball through high school it provides them exposure to a "try-out like" environment that they will likely experience again in the future.
